Golden Cowrie Shell
Cowrie shells have a multitude of uses in both traditional and modern culture.
- When given as a gift from the Goddess called Yemaja (the Goddess who lives in the water) they carry profound spiritual significance.
- They also carry good fortune and blessing from the Deity.
- They are also given as gifts as a way of offering wealth and prosperity.
- The shells are used as decorations for clothing, hair, ornaments, instruments, etc…
- Cowrie shells are said to bring power and good fortune if they point toward you. But just the opposite if they point away from you.
- As a final gift, cowrie shells are placed in the coffin or grave so that the departed can use them in the afterlife.
