DANGER ZONE: Beware of The Blind Leading The Blind

Depiction of blind-folded people lead by a blind-folded person.

by Abeni Bamidele

Surely you have heard the phrase, "The blind leading the blind....." And even if you haven't, I know that you have the where-with-all to have determined that one unsighted person may face challenges navigating his own way through life, much less given the responsibility of leading another who may very well require the same level of guidance.

Before some of you go taking offense, I am certainly not speaking of those individuals who have visual impairments, but rather speak of those folks who lack awareness and insight. One blinded person or group, who have insufficient allowances of perceptivity can very well lead others astray, (if) when given opportunity.

Recently, I had been giving thought to how many people we come across day to day, who lack the type of awareness that keeps them attuned to the Earth-shifting changes we all face daily. Moreover, more thought was given to how potentially dangerous it is when an insightful person may encounter a situation when faced with groups of people who fail to utilize the gift of intuition. When such deficiency is coupled with the over-stimulation of the ego, watch out, as a Molotov cocktail will be brewing.

Sheep are known to be somewhat docile, easily impressionable and able to be lead with little confrontation or apprehension. Perhaps they don't mind when a self-proclaimed shepherd comes along and decides what their fate will be. Or maybe that shepherd is just what the sheep needs as he may think that without the good shepherd, he may lack the resources to survive.

Symbolically we can examine this scenario and make many determinations.  Yet what I can tell you is that if what you are encountering doesn't "feel" right....it probably isn't. That feeling would be the activation of your intuition or your Third Eye right-mind working for your present condition.

But enough on that. I'm not trying to get too deep on you.

What I am saying to you is that you must question everything. Even the things I speak of right now should be questioned by you. Research it. Validate everything before believing it. Utilize your gift of intuition before being lead astray by groups or so-called leaders who know not what they are doing, even when they give the illusion that they are experts in a craft, genre, niche, field of work, or developers of policy or law.

Whenever you find yourself in a school of fish going in one wrong direction, it is perfectly okay to swim the opposite direction....and quickly. ~ Abeni Bamidele

And finally, words that can serve as a source of inspiration, or a mantra if you will, are said by Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha who states:

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”  -Buddha

The Best Vegetables Ever

I personally love, love , love vegetables. Can't get enough. And according to the infograph above, these are 14 of the very best vegetables. Hmmm, not so sure of that as I could take or leave bok choy. Yet I'm sure someone out there gives bok choy some love.

As a matter of fact, I found a great recipe from Cooking Light, for vegetable bok choy. Try it and let me know if you like....

Mirin-Braised Bok Choy with Shiitake Mushrooms

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons peanut oil, divided
1 cup thinly sliced shiitake mushrooms
1/2 cup thinly sliced shallots
baby bok choy, halved lengthwise
1/2 cup unsalted chicken stock
1/4 cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
1 tablespoon lower-sodium soy sauce
slices fresh ginger

Preparation

1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 teaspoons oil. Add mushrooms and shallots to pan; cook 5 minutes or until mushrooms begin to brown, stirring occasionally. Remove mushroom mixture from pan.

2. Add 2 teaspoons oil to pan. Add half of bok choy, cut sides down, to pan; cook 3 minutes. Remove bok choy from pan. Repeat procedure with remaining 2 teaspoons oil and remaining bok choy. Return mushroom mixture and bok choy to pan.

3. Stir in stock, mirin, soy sauce, and ginger; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; partially cover, and cook 10 minutes or until bok choy is crisp-tender. Uncover and remove bok choy from pan. Bring liquid to a boil; cook 6 minutes or until reduced to about 1/4 cup. Drizzle liquid over bok choy.

Drink, Drink, Drink More Water!

This is just a kind reminder that our water intake should be increased. Juice, coffee, soda, and alcohol are fine in moderation, but in terms of optimal sustainability and survival, we need water.

Some people (such as myself) enjoy drinking water, but in the event you face challenges, here are:

10 Ways To Increase Your Water Intake

  1. Introduce children to water or diluted juice as the way to quench their thirst.
  2. Limit consumption of soft drinks, juices, sports drinks, etc. to special occasions.
  3. Substitute your customary tea, coffee or soft drinks for water.
  4. Use a straw. Some people find it easier to drink more water this way
  5. As soon as you wake up, drink a large cup of filtered water. It stimulates your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and activates a more alert brain.
  6. Drink water steadily throughout the day, especially if you exercise. Do not rely just on your thirst to be your guide.
  7. Carry water with you when doing outdoor activities, especially in warmer months. Also, get in the habit of carrying a water bottle with you all the time.
  8. Drink a bottle or large glass of water one hour before you eat. Limit your fluid drinking to 8 ounces at mealtime so it will not impair digestion.
  9. Drink extra water if you consume coffee or tea to compensate for the diuretic effect.
  10. Keep a “water intake” journal for motivation to maintain your fluid requirements. (There are phone apps out there that can help yo keep track!)

You Need Vodka In Your Life

Already, you are either appalled, amused, or just plain curious about why one would need vodka in their life. I want you to think out of the box for a second as I am not encouraging nor discouraging you to consume vodka.  That's solely your decision and none of my business.

But did you know that besides consuming vodka, there are many other uses of what is primarily deemed as an alcoholic beverage? That's right, so as you read further, you may find that even if you do not drink vodka, you can still put it to good use.

Here are 18 other ways vodka is used:

1. Treats poison ivy
2. Freshens laundry
3. Cleans glass and porcelain items in the home (i.e., sink fixtures)
4. Preserves flowers
5. Treats a jellyfish sting
6. Eliminates sticker residue
7. Repels insects
8. Makes hair shiny
9. Treats ear aches
10. Remove vomit stains (after drinking, of course, Lol)
11. Cleans mold
12. Temporarily minimizes toothache
13. Removes foot odor
14. Cleans windows (who needs Windex?)
15. Makes a reusable ice pack with water
16. Shines silver jewelry
17. Prevents clothes from fading when laundered
18. Can serve as hand sanitizer

Very good information, yet I would then question what this substance may be doing to our insides once consumed. Either its making the internal organs odorless and squeaky clean, or gradually eating away at the organs. I just don't know. Hmm...you decide.

5 Pitfalls When Women Want To Wear The Pants In Their Heterosexual Relationships

by Abeni Bamidele

Must I start off with a disclaimer? I really don't want to. Yet I will say that this article does not promote female domination, so if you are a man reading this, and you get turned on by being dominated, remove yourself. That's right, keep it movin'...this one is not for you. Was that controlling enough? As for the ladies, if you are in a relationship, and your man enjoys being controlled, again, this probably won't be something you would have interest in.  All others, go for it.

It should also be noted that  I am not speaking from the perspective of being a relationship expert, nor a relationship coach, but I sure have spoken to masses of both men and women in and out of relationships and marriages over a period of years, coupled with my own experiences, which makes me know a few things about human dichotomy.

American Culture And Heterosexual Relationships

Who would have thought that I would have to place emphasis in stating "heterosexual" relationships? But in the U.S., where the sky is the limit for relational preferences, sometimes one has to be specific.

Can you identify the specific definitions of how a heterosexual partnership is supposed to work in the U.S. from a cultural perspective? I'm going to let you think about this one for a moment....... Stop it. There are none. Many have followed the lead of what they think the masses are doing on the basis of observing friends in relationships, others are influenced by watching their parents in relationships, or even define relationships on the basis of what the media portrays. Some couples operate from the perspective of religious affiliations or on the basis of how the government dictates law. Those that are fortunate enough to ascribe to their native practice outside of the U.S. may have some fundamentals they live by that aid in cultivating a union with clearly defined expectations which can aid in the longevity of union/marriage. Yet many, when born and raised in America, have never left the "country" to learn what practices may work, or even learned from others within the U.S. whose unions are long lasting may very well get themselves entangled in a relationship where one partner places too much emphasis in solely satisfying their own needs.

This can very easily occur when there is a lack of harmony, order and balance within the life of the person who's ego feels the need to dominate.

Once again, in an effort to reduce my own chances of presenting a dissertation, (certainly not my intention) I will mention that based on my own observations, that women specifically can find themselves in a relationship that ultimately may not work when she selects to symbolically "wear the pants" in the relationship.

5 Pitfalls Of Female Domination In Relationships

What's wrong with the photo to the left? Maybe something, or maybe nothing at all. If you were to write a little excerpt describing what you see here, some may say that he is being a gentleman and carrying her bags for her as you feel a man should do. Others will say, she spent all of his money, and then is expecting him to carry the heavy load. Or how about she makes the money, and purchases everything for both within the relationship. Maybe she is "making her man..." Either way, she looks content, and he doesn't look very happy at all.

It's really up in the air. This photo could tell us many things. But the reality is, without clearly defined roles of each mate, through healthy communication, a woman may find herself deemed as controlling and overtaking the relationship with no consideration for her mate.

Can I place emphasis, that if you took a survey and asked a series of  women, do they feel they are controlling in their relationships, some will say "yes" and justify their reasons why they think they need to. While other women would might say "no" for failure to self-asses. They may be in denial, never acknowledging that their controlling ways are killing their relationships. Indeed each partner has imperfections, but when an ego-driven woman loses sight of her role and responsibilities in a relationship (as per definition/communication between both partners), the relationship break-down process can very well begin.

So I'm going to make it very plain and simple. Here are five pitfalls of  what can happen when women become self-serving in their relationships and fail to respect the clearly defined expectations communicated with her mate.

1. Men get angry. That seems simple enough, right? Even if they are not angered easily, the man can certainly develop thoughts and questions regarding their purpose in the relationship. And if his beliefs go unnoticed...uh-oh...trouble.

2. Men become passive aggressive. He may not wish to talk about anything at this point, but would rather make an effort to ensure your needs aren't met because his aren't being met.

3. Men submit. For some men who have had challenges in identifying what they really want in their relationship, for failure of really knowing themselves, he may think that being controlled is just the way it is supposed to be. But look out if he finds out otherwise!

4. Men cheat. OooH! Not the "C" word! Realistically speaking though, should a woman come along who respects him, feeds him, listens to him, massages his back and serves as his number one cheerleader, girlfriend, you and your controlling as%#! is in for some trouble...I'm just saying.

5. Men leave. Now what needs explanation here? Why would anyone want to stick around being maltreated?

For any ladies reading this, you have the perfect opportunity right now to self-assess, and ensure that you not only know your value and worth before entering into a relationship, that you acknowledge and respect his value and worth when deciding to develop a relationship. On-going communication is the key to  identifying exactly what each person wants from their partner which will make the collective journey a lot more enjoyable and interesting to manage over time.

Ebay And Paypal....? What? Racketeering? Fake Products?

by Abeni Bamidele

Yes folks, so it seems that Ebay and Paypal may have gotten themselves in a heat of trouble and are in the midst of a lawsuit over federal racketeering of fraudulent items. (Gasp!) Can you imagine?  Apparently the Irvine-based company, Wimo Labs, filed a federal racketeering lawsuit against eBay this past Thursday.

It appears that the Eyewitness News caught 'em! Gotcha.

Eyewitness News apparently have been looking into online counterfeit sales over the past several months. Low and behold, what is deemed as The Counterfeit Report, work with manufacturers to expose bogus products up for sale. Well, it was found that Ebay had shelves upon shelves of fake sh*#% that was being distributed out to the public in receipt of people's hard earned cash.

Thus far, the specifics of what products have not been identified. Dog-gonit! And I like shopping from time to time on that-there website for supplies-and-thangs. At any rate, buyer beware, and shop with an all-seeing eye.

Ebay's comments to all of this?

"We have received a copy of the complaint and are reviewing it. That said, counterfeits are not welcome on eBay and we have a number of sophisticated tools, policies and other measures in place to keep them off our site. We will vigorously defend our practices in court."

Alright now!

Your Body As An Instrument: Has Human Beatboxing Made A Come-Back? Who Said It Ever Left!

The Original Human Beat Box, Doug E. Fresh
Photo above shows the artistically self-proclaimed original human beat box artist Doug E. Fresh. The artist is Barbados born, whose single "The Show/La Di Da Di" caught the attention of many future beatboxers.

I can remember the days of going to concerts where he was featured and the crowd was hyped, anticipating the tribal methodology of percussion made through his voice, mouth, tongue and lips.

Human beatboxing is greatly connected and embedded in hip-hop culture. It can also be referred to as vocal percussion. The genius in this art form is one must literally internally hear the rhythm even before it has even been expressed outwardly.

Examples of additional vocal percussion artists would be Biz Markie who still lights up the crowd, Al Jarreau, Bobby McFerrin and even Michael Jackson in much of his music, just to name a few.

I just recently discovered a video that I absolutely could not stop playing over and over again. This dynamic father-daughter duo Mentor & Apprentice (daughter Nicole Harris) surely have made a name for themselves, as their video has gone viral on social media.

                                                                  Watch This!

As if that were not enough....They had to go one more round of competition:

There is an increase in the variety in which beatboxing is utilized throughout musical culture. People have creatively added beatboxing in with different instruments to create a completely different sound unlike any other.

The Age Of Accountability Is Now: Take Hold Of Your Own Destiny

In case you have not noticed...truly, we are living in an age of transition. What we once knew to be is no more. Moreover, the things that we had hoped for from a previous time in our lives is no longer afforded to us in this new age. We must have new thoughts and new ideologies; new standards to live by, if we are going to excel in this new lifespan. Our hearts must be in the right place. Our minds and spirits must be aligned with the great universal shift that shall and will force us all to take this life just a little bit more seriously, if we have not done so already.

Take the time to re-assess those things that (you think) are of utmost importance to you... Chew on them, analyze them, question them, meticulously evaluate them, and make sure that if you are satisfied with your answers, that those "things" that you think are sooo important, are not of a trivial nature. Because if they are, surely you will know, as it will be evidenced by the conditions with which you live.

Respect this Earth, and the people in it. And even when someone has offended you, --you don't have to turn the other cheek, only to be offended on the other side of your face, but think about your next response, before you make a decision. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to step up a level in becoming a more responsible being.
