OSHUN, Who Is Full Of Understanding...

by Abeni Bamidele

The Power Of Oshun!

These adornments depict the beauty and power of the Yoruba Orisha Oshun. She is the Goddess of Love. Known for healing the sick, and bringing fertility and prosperity. She is associated with the number five and the color yellow or amber. The peacock and vulture are sacred to her. Offerings to Oshun include sweet things such as honey, white wine, oranges, or pumpkins, as well as perfume. She represents sweetness, beauty, and flowing joy.

O yes...but get her angered and she is a force to be reckoned with...

Embrace your Oshun energy.

Learn More Of The Gifts Of Oshun

I highly recommend this book for women's enlightenment. An absolutely great and informative book by Asst. Professor Vanessa K. Valdés at the University of New York titled, "Oshun's Daughters" examines representations of African diasporic religions from novels and poems written by women in the United States, the Spanish Caribbean, and Brazil. In spite of differences in age, language, and nationality, these women writers all turn to variations of traditional Yoruba religion (Santería/Regla de Ocha and Candomblé) as a source of inspiration for creating portraits of womanhood.

Truly, this book will inspire and rejuvenate you!
