The Jumpsuit Can Withstand Fashion's Test Of Time

It has been said that the first jumpsuit was designed by a woman named Florentine Thayat in 1919. While I'm so sure that there were designers unrecognized well beyond her who invented this concept, jumpsuits were known to initially be intended for professionals in aviation, parachuting, and race car driving. Sportsmen, skiers, skydivers etc. would wear them for protection from the elements. The jumpsuit was and is known to be futuristic and liberating; a revolutionary style in comparison to other garments that were and still are worn today. Designer Thayat thought the jumpsuit was a universal item that was easy to make and wear. Today, they have become a major fashion trend and will continue to do so for many decades to come.
